Private Flying is committed with its customers for the climate

Concerned by our climate impact and driven by a strong desire to act, we have partnered with ecoLive, the French-speaking Swiss branch of the myclimate foundation, to offer climate-neutral flights. This approach is based on the one hand on the calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from flights and on the other hand on support provided to climate protection projects.

MyClimate

Climate Calculation, Protection, and Neutrality

The calculation of the climate impact of flights uses the 3 scopes making it possible to integrate all sources of GHG emissions, from the manufacture of the aircraft to its recycling or disposal, including of course fuel consumption. . The calculation method also follows the most recognized standards such as the GHG Protocol or ISO 14'064.

Once the amount of CO2 is defined for a flight, it is possible to reduce this same amount by supporting climate protection projects. All the projects we support are Gold Standard or Plan Vivo certified, two of the most demanding standards in the world. They also contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and thus to the preservation of biodiversity and the improvement of the quality of life of the people concerned.

The combination of calculation and support for climate protection projects makes it possible.

Biogas plants for rural households

The installation of domestic biodigesters represent clean and sustainable sources of energy for India. Biogas generated from cattle manure replaces fuels used for domestic energy needs such as wood, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas. This project makes it possible to avoid 54,217 t of CO2e annually and to reduce wood consumption by 4.8 t per year per installed biodigester. It has also enabled so far :

  • 43,500 people benefit from better air quality in their homes and save time collecting firewood
  • the creation of 87 permanent jobs and the training of 7,600 people
  • the installation of 6,890 biodigesters, which created 181,580 tonnes of organic fertilizer

Community reforestation

This reforestation project on the Platanares ridge, in the San Juan de Limay municipality (Nicaragua), encourages families of small farmers to replant trees on the unused parts of their land. This project reduces emissions by 624,216 t of CO2e per year by reforesting the Platanares region. It has also made it possible so far to :

  • provide additional income to 1,357 farming families living on less than $2 a day
  • reforest the equivalent of 11,527 football pitches (6,167 hectares and 10 million trees)
  • create 2,900 jobs per year (80% landless peasants)
  • integrate more women, especially in management positions
  • the collaboration of 292 communities
